The Best TV for Xbox 360’s Halo 3

With the imminent release of [tag]Microsoft[/tag] [tag]Xbox[/tag] 360’s [tag]Halo 3[/tag], something has dawned on me… and possibly countless others.

I need a new TV.

Not just any [tag]TV[/tag] now… I need something that can boast [tag]1080p resolution[/tag], pump frames quickly for high speed action sequences (and those critical moments in multiplayer), and support a nice amount of playing screen for when I got a few buddies over and we want to play together.

And then… I also need something that I can actually AFFORD to buy by September 25th. Crap. This is going to be impossible…

Or is it?

Turns out that such a TV exists, and most importantly, could be in my budget by next month. What [tag]HDTV[/tag] is this you ask? The Samsung LNT4065F 40″ 1080p LCD HDTV (This is a referral link. Please don’t let that scare you. I’m saving up for one of these myself). This thing packs one serious punch for a TV (if the 5/5 star user review didn’t give that away already). 40 Inches of pure 1080p goodness, with several incredible bonuses, like the 15,000:1 contrast ratio, and 10-bit video processor.

With a Contrast Ratio like 15,000:1, the whites practically glow on the screen, and the darks really seem black. Just go check this thing out at a local bestbuy or something, and you’ll notice immediately that there is something different about the picture.

The 10-bit Video Processor will make you feel like you’re playing on a tube, or better. [tag]LCD[/tag]’s, [tag]Plasma[/tag]s, and DLP TV’s are known for “Ghosting”, where the frames don’t refresh fast enough, causing doubling of images superimposing upon one another. LCD TV’s are by far the best for gaming, and when you add a 10-bit video processor (as opposed to say… a previous generation 8-bit), you are given superior speed and video quality for fast moving video and games.

Now, here is where things get really exciting. Usually, I would never even considering getting one of these HDTV’s simply because of their price. This TV costs $2000+ brand new! However, when you purchase it on Amazon.com, you get a huge discount (19% right now). Currently, you can grab it for $1,624 with FREE SHIPPING. Amazon will also refund you the difference in prices if the unit drops in price and you request it. And if you are not satisfied with the unit, you can return it, or replace it within 30 days, absolutely free of charge.

It really does not get much better than this. If you are looking for high quality gaming later this year, this is the model HDTV to buy.

1080p is of no benefit when playing Xbox 360. Games like Halo 3 are formatted in 640p, which the console up converts to 720p. The benefits of 1080p are very marginal unless you get a screen over 50 inches.
