Forwards shared a really nice easter egg with us today. Turns out, the Siege of Madrigal song from Myth made it into [tag]Halo 3[/tag], in a similar fashion to how it was hidden in Halo 1.

On the level, “The Covenant”, near the end of the level (right after defeating the two scarabs, but before going inside) you can get to the top left of the Citadel, and if you stand still and listen closely, you can hear the song. Defeating the Scarabs may not be required, but will make it a lot easier to hear. You may need to enable the energy bridge, and wait for the main game music to stop before being able to clearly hear it.

Well, we’ve been doing lots of research, and thanks to the help of some of our readers, we have quite a bit of information on the very well hidden [tag]Halo 3[/tag] “IWHBYD Skull” (I Would Have Been Your Daddy).

We’re looking to really take the challenge of finding the last silver skull seriously, so we’d like everyone from the Halo community who is willing to help us with the task. We could use anyones help searching in the game, trying to contact members of Bungie, or even looking for alternative methods for finding the last skull.

UPDATE!  THE SKULL HAS BEEN FOUND!  IWHBYD SKULL LOCATION!

If you share anything revealing, we’ll add it to our list for everyones convienence.

Here is what we know so far:

• The Skull is on the level, “The Covenant”
• The Skull is the most difficult in the game to find
• According to ferrex (from Bungie), the Skull is found in ways that we have yet to imagine
• Hint included in the Game Code suggests: “Interred at the Foundry’s edge.” This indicates that the Skull is somewhere near the end of the level, most likely in the area with the Halo Ring Holograms and the Prophet of Truth. (Added 9/28/07 @ 10:47)
• Unconfirmed Reports of one of the Bungie Team communicating with people on Bungie.net, and from a picture of some new Game Code Suggests that the Skull is activated rather than found by jumping through the rings in a certain order. (Added 9/28/07 @ 10:47)
• The Halo Rings in the last part of the level each produce a specific note. All of the notes combined make up the same notes played in the Halo Theme Song. The Notes in order from First (Entrance) Ring to last are: B C# D E F# G A. (Added 9/28/07 @ 10:47)
• Ethan confirmed that the “Skull of all Skulls” or the “Grand Daddy Skull” is mentioned in the Bungie Podcast. Marty Knows about the Skull’s location, and they basically confirm that you need to play a melody with the musical hologram rings.

Please share your thoughts, discoveries, and research, and let us find this thing before it becomes the end of us!

Some Extra Cool Stuff we’ve found:

• Forwards found a really cool easter egg on “The Covenant”. You can find out how to play the the Marathon Song Easter Egg now thanks to his discovery!

We have finished all of our Halo 3 Skull Guides, including all of the Gold Skulls, and Silver Skulls (including the Cowbell Skull), except for 1 Silver Skull remaining. The final skull that needs to be found is the “I Would Have Been Your Daddy”, or IWHBYD Skull, the one that unlocks extra dialogue throughout the game. We have reason to believe that it is located on “The Covenant”, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

From what we’ve heard, it is the hardest of the Skulls in [tag]Halo 3[/tag] to find! If you happen to run into it, drop us a line!

Along with our guides to finding all of the Skulls in Halo 3, [tag]Halo 3[/tag] Planet is putting together a guide with all of the Terminal Locations in the game to unlock the achievement “Marathon Man”, as well as learn more about the war of the Forerunners time.
