Bungie DID add this in a manner of speaking. They made it so you can open your party to the public, instead of just your friends. It’s called Select Network Mode->Xbox Live->Open Party. So now friends AND recent players can join your party… but there isn’t a search =/.

I guess the idea is that if you want to play a game to show skill, you do ranked matchmaking.
It would probably take gigs of serverwork to put up everyone’s custom game in a refreshable list, too, so they just let players connect to each other the way they do now.

Well actually, these guys probably are doing this right, but they have not beaten the game on Normal+ difficulty yet, because if you do not, then the skull will not spawn.

it’s not such a big deal, because you can still play as a party.
I find they eliminated alot of the waiting time, instead of waiting for people to join, it automatically matches everyone up.
I would have been very angry if they have rooms.
If you want to play on a custom map, you should invite your friends and you and your friends can play.

I’m very suprised that nobody has mentioned that this could have been like a PC game in terms of online matchmaking. Halo:CE for the PC was freaking awesome. You had a huge list of every game being played that you could sort by gametype, number of players, latency, map, etc. That in addition to the matchmaking abilities ported over from Halo 2 would have made Halo 3 a hell of a lot better IMHO.
