That’s right!  We’re taking the communities advice, and opening up a Halo Community Forum for the masses!

We’ve decided to open a forum in order to allow more effective communications on topics which we don’t always bring attention to here on the blog.  The forums are simple, and should be fairly easy to navigate.  Go ahead and Register Now!

Yesterday, Bungie released their first Matchmaking update to [tag]Halo 3[/tag] (already — the game has only been out for about 2 weeks).  They’ve made a few notable changes, most of which make us very happy:

• Big Team Battle matches are now 16-player affairs.
• In the Team Slayer playlist, the appearance of Shotty Snipers has been greatly reduced.
• Now, when players veto Shotty Snipers, the game that results from the veto will not be Shotty Snipers.
• In one-sided VIP matches, the attacking team will now see a waypoint for the VIP they are hunting.
• In Lone Wolves, Slayer gametypes will appear more frequently.

Looks like Bungie heard the cry of fans on their forums and took action on their requests.  Aside from reducing Shotty Sniper game variants, they have also souped up Big Team Battle matches again, which will make for some intense games in the coming weeks.

I wonder if we’ll ever have a BTB Rocket Race…

Halo 3 Planet is hosting its very first [tag]Contest[/tag], complete with [tag]Halo[/tag] Swag and some other cool prizes.  We’re looking for the Halo community to get creative with Forge, and build some cool maps and game.  The best ones will take home some sweet prizes!

It’s our Ultimate FORGE-tacular! Giveaway!

The Rules are simple. We simply want you to design your own map using “Forge”, and then create a custom gametype to go with it. When the contest ends, we’ll decide which Game is the best of them all (based on downloads, rating, and personal judging).

You can get all of the details on the Contests Rules page.  We’ll keep adding more prizes if enough people participate (perhaps even a Halo 3 Zune or 360 Console)!  We’ll also post our favorites on our brand new Custom Games page for everyone to download!

Our guide for all of the Halo 3 Armor Permutations is now complete!  We’ve included photos of each set of armor from [tag]Halo 3[/tag] (save 2, which will be posted in the very near future), as well as instructions for unlocking each.

We’ve also included details about the Recon Armor, and the Flaming Hayabusa Helmet (although today Bungie sort of denied the existence of such a thing…).

We’re working diligently on a Halo 3 Armor Permutation Guide here at H3P for those of you looking to unlock all of the Armor sets for use in Custom Games / Matchmaking.  For those of you who don’t know, you can change your appearance in [tag]Halo 3[/tag] to personalize your own character.

At this point, we are about halfway done with all of the different armor sets, but we should have them all up in the next day or so.  We’ll hook you up with everything from the Recon Helmet to the Hayabusa (Ninja) Helmet.
