Halo 3 Planet

We ARE NOT IGN

Hmmm… got a letter in my mailbox today from the legal folks over at IGN Entertainment.  They are a bit concerned about folks being confused when they visit “Halo 3 Planet”, as they apparently run several video game related websites with “Planet” in the domain (See www.planetquake.com, www.planetduke.com, www.haloplanet.com).  While we were not trying to steal their trademark, we do respect their rights, so if it comes down to it, we might have to change our domain.

I did call them today, and we are trying to work something out, but until then, just be aware that we may be changing domains in the near future.  It’s a bit disappointing considering I’ve had this domain since mid 2006 (and considering there is a www.planethalo.com/ which is also not owned by them), and the community and I have worked hard to build up a strong, large, friendly community with this name.  I personally don’t think we resemble IGN in any way after visiting some of their sites… but we’ll see where this goes.

I’ll keep you updated here.

p.s. – Did our name confuse anyone else besides them?

Bungie’s Blue Filters to hit the B.net store soon!

From [tag]Bungie[/tag].net:

One of the many bonus features shipping in Halo 3’s Limited and Legendary Editions is the Audio/Video Calibration tool. While it’s not remotely necessary for an enjoyable Halo 3 experience, those who want to fine tune their visual calibration will want to pick up the Blue Filter. We’re planning on making these filters available in the Bungie Store as soon as possible and at minimal cost to consumers. When they are available and/or we have more details about their availability, we’ll update you here at Bungie.net.

This blue filter (or a similar one) can alternatively bought by some photo retailers according to some [tag]Halo[/tag] fans.  The blue filter is no an essential item, but along with the AV Calibration tool that comes with the Limited and Legendary Edition, it supposedly will make for an even BETTER playing experience.

We’ll update you when the Bungie Blue Filters get to the online store.

Play Halo 3 First at the London Premiere!

There is a contest for 150 pairs of tickets for people to go Play [tag]Halo 3[/tag] before anyone else at the London Premiere! All you have to do is crack the code!

Crack The Code – Win Tickets to London Halo 3 Premiere

The Answer:

It comes from the First TV commercial for Halo 3.

“Ever wonder what’s up there”

Once you type that in, you need to send an email to halo3prem [at] neoncomms.co.uk. A max of 15 words in the email to them for why you think you should be going to the premiere. One thing I noticed was that there happens to be 15 words spoken by the child in the video… “Maybe someone up there is wondering what it’s like here. I hope so, don’t you?”

Good luck!
