Ultimate Forge Contest

The Contest

It’s time to show your creativity and style in Halo 3 Planet’s Ultimate FORGE-tacular! Giveaway! We’re giving away some great prizes to Halo fans who can build something really fun using the new “Forge” tool in Halo 3.

The Prizes

This list will grow if we get enough contestants, but here are the prizes for now.

  • One 1st Place Winner: Halo 3 “Legendary” Edition, “Bungie Pro” Account, Choice of Bungie Store Product Under $80
  • 3 Runner Ups: “Bungie Pro” Accounts

If we hit enough contestants for this giveaway, we’ll step up the prizes by adding in a “Limited Halo 3 Xbox Console”, or “Halo Zune”, or other cool swag. We’ll even add more prizes for runner ups.

How it Works

The Rules are simple. We simply want you to design your own map using “Forge”, and then create a custom gametype to go with it. When the contest ends, we’ll decide which Game is the best of them all (based on downloads, rating, and personal judging). Here is the knitty gritty:

  1. Create a map using Forge. DO NOT simply modify someone else’s map. Save your Map as, “H3P [Your Map Name]”.
  2. In the Custom Games Lobby, Create a new gametype for your map. Save the Gametype as “H3P [Your Game Name Here]”.
  3. Submit your new map and gametype to your fileshare, and in your Bungie.net account, create a new thread with them. In your thread, be sure to state what game/map combo to use. Also state that your Map is for the Halo 3 Planet “Ultimate FORGE-tacular! Giveaway” with a link to this page… Like so:

    [Your Description… Include link to your custom gametype…] Built for [url=http://www.halo3planet.com/ultimate-forge-tacular-giveaway/]Halo 3 Planet’s Ultimate FORGE-tacular! Giveaway[/url].

  4. Email your Thread (Map and gametype) from Bungie.net to “webmaster [at] halo3planet [dot] com”. Have the subject line read, “FORGE-tacular Submission - [Your Map Name]”.
  5. On November 15th, we’ll pick a winner based on your map/gametypes total downloads (with the date submitted taken into account), rating, and how we personally feel about the game.

Here are some more rules just to keep things fair and even:

  • Stating rules in your Game description does not factor into the judging. For instance, you cannot tell people that they are not allowed to leave a particular part of the map. However, if you can prevent players from leaving a certain part of the map, that’s fair game.
  • You may submit as many maps/games as you’d like, but you may only win once.
  • We need to see the link in your thread to help keep ourselves organized.
  • If you are caught modifying someone else’s game/map, you will be disqualified.
  • We’ll post our favorite Custom Forge Games periodically for people to try out.

We really just want this to be a fun contest for everyone. We’re hoping that a lot of these user created games turn out to be Lan Party favorites, and awesome custom games for everyone. If word about this contest spreads enough, we’ll keep adding prizes!

Other Important Stuff

  • We’re not actually giving away Bungie Pro Accounts (unless Bungie adds a way to give them away as gifts), but we will give you the cash to purchase one.
  • Halo 3 Planet reserves the right to modify these rules at any time.
  • We might change the prizes if we get a lot of people interested in this. The First place winner will for sure receive a “Legendary” Edition of Halo 3, but will likely win some other cool swag as well.
